New beginnings
Typically, when you imagine construction and construction workers, it’s easy to picture a man in a hard-hat, as construction has always been a male-dominated industry. In reality, women have played a major role in construction for many years.
EyeSite’s Nancy Cagle has the vision to encourage, empower and assist women in the industry
Nancy Cagle has been part of the EyeSite Surveillance team for over 3 years now. She is responsible for Business Development, Loss Prevention Consulting, as well as Sales and Marketing. You may have seen Nancy on your site, OSHA compliant in her PPE and site plan in hand.
In that she has been a hard-working part of the construction industry for several years, Nancy was destined for this industry. Her grandfather was a successful construction engineer his entire life. It is in her DNA.
Nancy realized that there is very little recognition of/for women in construction and with the industry being such a large part of her life, she decided that she should endeavor to expand the opportunity to others.
Providing a Platform
Nancy is an active member of the Associated General Contractors Houston Chapter (AGC), the Association of Builders and Contractors of Houston (ABC), the Greater Houston Builder’s Association (GHBA), and is also a member of, and participates in the local American Subcontractor’s Association (ASA) Women’s Peer Group events where women are able to come together for networking and sharing best practices.
Being part of these various associations and the construction industry, Nancy quickly became inspired to create an opportunity to help support women in the industry that means so much to her.
In October of 2018, Nancy attended ABC Houston’s Planning Committee, where the main focus of the meeting was on building active involvement.
It occurred to Nancy that one way to build active involvement was to increase the participation of women in the association and present the idea of forming a group that recognizes, uplifts, empowers and educates women in construction. The group would also inform women outside the industry as to why construction can be a lucrative and fulfilling objective that they should feel excited to explore and become more involved in.
This conversation quickly sparked a lot of interest and support for Nancy’s idea. With her peers at her side and her vision in full view, Nancy was soon named the inaugural chairwoman, leading the newly formed committee called L.O.G.I.C. (Ladies Operating For Growth In Construction)
L.O.G.I.C. – A Voice for Encouragement
The L.O.G.I.C. committee was formed to showcase women in construction as well as highlight their presence and achievements.
The mandate for L.O.G.I.C. is to be an open forum of discussion, empowerment, and support for women involved, or wanting to be involved, in the construction industry.
“The L.O.G.I.C. committee isn’t about women planning to take over the world or about disparaging men in the industry. The objective is to simply encourage women to showcase their value as well as improve their sense of belonging on a construction site.” Nancy says.

Making Change Possible
Proactive women like Nancy Cagle are gradually leveling the playing field for women in male-dominated industries.
Nancy’s vision for the future of L.O.G.I.C. is that it will grow to become a beacon of support, guidance, encouragement and a place of endless resource for all women within the construction industry as well as any considering it as a career path.
